About Us
Golden Visions started out in January 2008 with both a print and online issue featuring science fiction and fantasy stories by a variety of writers.
The staff here is small- we are a family run operation and our goal is to provide readers with original stories (free online) and for a great price for our print issue (which is available in both print and pdf formats) that are not only fun to read- but offers a wide variety of stories ranging the entire speculative fiction rainbow.
Science Fiction- Fantasy- Mild Horror, and a few odd genres that just can't find a home anywhere else are presented in a variety of forms...
short stories (1000- 7000 words)
flash fiction (stories under 1000 words)
poetry
Chief Editor- Christine Lajoie Golden is not only the editor, but an aspiring writer herself. she knows and understands the complicated process of writing, re-writing, editing, submitting, getting rejected, and dreaming of the day you finally see your name on a story that you created. Since Golden Visions is a family run business, we have lots of great support from everyone here. Many of her older stories are offered for free in out Staff Stories Section and we invite you to read them anytime. Many are added often, so check back at least every few months to see what's been added.
Ted Golden- the (not so) silent partner behind the scenes- provides not only the cash flow, but constant reassurance that is needed. He is the voice of reason among the voluminous laude of insanity that runs rampant in this world. He also helps wade through the submissions, offering suggestions, comments, crits, and just plain good old fashioned advice about how to keep things moving in the right direction. As CEO and Assistant Editor, he also dabbles in bit in writing, preferring a pseudonym for many of his stories. He also judges many of our contest- selecting the top stories for us to discuss and vote on.
Holmes Gray- a shadow in the world- staff writer, assistant contest editor, and general gopher for what ever we happen to need at the moment...A private person with a kind heart (most of the time) and the one who seems to be willing to do what we can't. Due to many of the odd submissions that we have received over the past couple of years, he offered to provide a new service...critiquing subs from writers who just want their story reviewed and need some honest feedback. Try out our newest feature coming sometime in July. Crit Claw. Send your stories to easywriter4u@yahoo.com in order to take advantage of this. You could appear online!
Ute Musselman- proofreader, copyeditor and a really fast typist, who helps us get our print edition out with a lot less mistakes than it would have if we tried to do it on our own. A retired medical transcriptionist who reads and types as fast as most teenagers talk, she works late into the night (oh yeah, did we mention insomniac?) and gets our print version ready for the next person....
Jeannie Patrick- our printing consultant. She gets things into the proper format for the printers, finds a few things that the rest of us might have missed, and helps go over proofs before the final copy is approved. She makes suggestions, offers valuable insight, and sometimes even sends a story or two our way.
Of course...all of our family members have been very supportive...and we are grateful to all of them!
Mom- Renate (you never tell us that we can't achieve our dreams, you encourage us to try)
and Dad -Paul (you left us in body, but your spirit lives on in us all)
Sisters- Jutta, Ute and Beate (yes, these are real names!)
All of our nieces and nephews, who let us know what they like or don't like about any particular issue.
Our special thanks go to:
Jerry Jackson and his wife Charlene- who help us get 75-100 issues distributed to our men and women in uniform every quarter. We could not do this without their help! They carry our print issue to Fort Benning so the soldiers there can get a free copy.
Vernon and Earline Griggs- who make sure that several of our magazines make it to Panama City in Florida- because everyone needs something good to read while getting that tan!
Crystalwizard- who has offered invaluable assistance in getting some decent graphic art into our issues, and has donated some work for us to use as well.
And there are so many, many more of you who have told your friends and families about us! Thank You All! Keep Reading, keeping coming back, and yes---keep telling everyone who will listen about us!
